Greetings and welcome to my personal slice of the web. My name is Lawrence Hageman, though I mainly go by nickname “Chip” in real life. Online I’ve gone by many pseudonyms over the years.. I’ve gone by Gandalf42 for quite a few years- way before the release of the Lord of the Rings movies.. but others have since used that on various sites (with the rise in popularity of Tolkien‘s works) so I also go by Mythran or Mythran42 on various sites.
I started using computers back in 1977 with the release of the Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. My first personal computer was the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A where I learned to program and fostered my love of STG | Shoopt’em Up | Shmup games with the amazing release of Parsec. I participated in the birth of online communities by running a Bulletin Board System (BBS), from 1986 to 1994, where I was a site member of various networks such as WWIVnet, SynchroNet, FidoNet along with running my own local network- FishNet.
As to the overall content of this site, the main focus will be related to vintage computers and video game systems. However, I will post other items of personal interest along the way such as various family topics, travel, music, movies and books… literally whatever strikes me at the time. I’ve been on a photo restoration kick since finding many of my families old photographs and slides, so you may see some of those. You will certainly be seeing concert photos and probably quite a few other unrelated items as well. So you have been warned. 🙂
